Volunteer Onboarding Process

I want to serve with FCA DC… Where do I start?

1) Meet with FCA DC staff or Board Member

  • At this meeting, we will get to know you. Tell us about yourself! Faith, sports and interest in serving with the ministry.

  • You will learn about the various opportunities available to engage with coaches and athletes in Washington, DC — pray, give and serve.

  • Based on your experience, availability and desire, you and the FCA staff will discern what the best next step is for you to serve in the ministry.

2) Complete the ministry leader application

  • Visit mla.fca.org.

  • Review the FCA Statement of Faith and ensure that your views are consistent with that of our organization. If at any point you are unsure or have questions, please contact an FCA staff person. The MLA includes a background check.

  • Once MLA is completed and received, please notify the individual you met with to confirm your submission. It will be reviewed by FCA staff.

3) Complete the E3 Discipleship Training

  • Visit fca.org/e3 to start the approx. 90 minute E3 Training (Engage, Equip, Empower).

  • This training can be completed in conjunction with the completion of the MLA.

  • Please notify your original contact person upon your completion.

4) become a mobilized volunteer

  • When you have completed steps 2 and 3, you will have a final phone call or meeting with an FCA representative. At this meeting, you will review anything from the MLA and training.

  • Depending on your direction, staff will ask you to shadow them in your desired ministry environment (especially for character coaching, huddle leader, etc.).

Important Notes

  • Volunteers need to be actively involved in their local church community. FCA volunteers are asked to disciple and serve. We expect there to be an in-flow of support as you pour out. We want to support you, but we need our volunteers to be supported in their local communities as well.

  • At any time, FCA staff can make a decision to no longer have you volunteer. In this situation, there will always be a follow-up conversation.
